The Veterinary Anaesthesia School for Technicians and Veterinarians was founded 2007 by Veterinary Anaesthesia Services International (VAS) in Switzerland. Due to its extraordinary success, it was invited to expand to Romania. The aim of the school is provision of a sound and well-founded education in Anaesthesia to Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians.
VASTA delivers a structured Continuing Education within a larger clinical context and is well inserted in the international network of Anaesthesia experts within ECVAA/AVA/AVTA. The growing VASTA family consists of VATs all over the World and provides an exchange platform between trained Veterinarians, Nurses and Specialists.
The main teacher is an internationally recognized expert in Veterinary Anaesthesia, a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA) and the founder of VASTA, Dr. Peter Kronen. He has vast experience with teaching, particularly VASTA is in it‘s 13th year now and expanding rapidly in a global fashion.
The main focus of the course lays in the practical application of anaesthesia knowledge. We offer expertise and knowledge to personnel in veterinary practices and other institutions to help make anaesthesia and analgesia safer and better for animals in our care. The course contributes to improve professional handling and care during the surgical intervention and the perioperative period.
Veterinarians and Technicians in Veterinary Practices, Clinics and Research groups.
!!! The maximal number of registrants is 25, and the minimum is 16.
Internationally recognised intensive course in Veterinary Anaesthesia structured in 3 week-long modules tought by Diplomate ECVAA!
The 3 modules consist of theoretical and practical training procured in subject blocks.
Each module expands over 5 days. The whole course is offered over 1-1.5 years.
For missed modules, individual arrangements can be made.
Registrants have the possibility to engage in exchange with the whole European VAT-network and the instructors directly in between the modules and after the course. For each module, there is a homework package provided to facilitate revision of topics of each module. Homework is corrected by VASTA faculty. The successful completion is mandatory for admission to the final examination.
Once all 3 modules and respective homework have been completed, the courses can be concluded with an examination. Passing the exams, a certification as VAT (Veterinary Anaesthesia Technician) can be obtained –for AVA-members as a co-signed certificate.
VASTA is recognized and periodically reevaluated by AVA, IVAPM, AVTA, Bpt, GST, VSTPA, VITAR, VNCA and VÖK (all national professional organisations in the countries of operation and the international/global anaesthesia and analgesia-related organisations).
